What is predictive maintenance and why is it important for IT asset management?

Predictive maintenance is an approach in which teams use predictive data to see when assets are most likely to need service. Predictive maintenance means you get to cut back on surprise device breakdowns (plus, you can extend the lifetime of equipment). It’s a huge step up from the break-fix model, which is kind of like ignoring your car’s oil light until smoke starts pouring from the hood.
